THE ARTS BEAT, Sidemen: Long Road to Glory

Scott Rosenbaum and Tony Grazia are the respective director and producer of the blues documentary film “Sidemen: Long Road To Glory”. The film chronicles the lives and stories of Pinetop Perkins, Willie Smith, and Hubert Sumlin, all of whom were well known in the music business for being blues playing sidemen with the likes of Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters. I interviewed Rosenbaum and Grazia to find out more about the film, some of the big names that were involved, and the lasting legacy of these musicians to their music.

A screening will be held at Ithaca’s Cinemapolis on the evening of September 16th. In the meantime, check out my segment length piece on the film, as well as an edited form of my talk with Rosenbaum and Grazia.
