Population increase to further congest Ithaca intersection, Currie says

ITHACA, NY (WHCU) — A Tompkins County lawmaker believes a controversial crossing in Ithaca will remain congested.

Officials have heard safety concerns over the Pleasant Grove Road – Cradit Farm Drive intersection. Legislator Susan Currie says as Ithaca’s population grows, traffic will continue to increase. She adds the Forest Home neighborhood near the intersection used to be calm.

“I remember when that area was not utilized by Cornell at all, so it was very peaceful and quiet,” Currie says.

County officials had considered requesting a roundabout to replace the intersection, but ultimately decided against it.
