NewsTalk WHCU presents the 1958 romantic musical South Pacific on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at 2 PM as part of the Legends and Legacies Film Series.

This hit film is based on the musical of the same name by Rogers and Hammerstein. South Pacific takes place during World War Two in the Pacific Theater.

The plot centers on a young American nurse stationed on a South Pacific Island, who falls in love with a middle-aged expatriate French plantation owner and his children. A secondary romance, between a U.S. lieutenant and a young Tonkinese woman, also pops up in the script.

Held at Cinemapolis we’re going to take in the dazzling 1958 musical SOUTH PACIFIC, in celebration of national Nurses Week and Mother’s Day. It stars Rozzano Brazzi and Mitzi Gaynor. We have two speakers, Rod Howe, Director of the History Center in Tompkins County and Diana Riesman with the Wharton Studio Museum, coming to speak on behalf of the building, the Tompkins Center for History and Culture, our sponsor.

To purchase tickets for the NewsTalk WHCU Legends and Legacies Film Series featuring South Pacific on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at 2 PM visit cinemapolis.org
